The Design Studio Team
The Charleston Gown Guru
An artist from an early age, Kira had a natural affinity to the textile arts and started out gluing together outfits for her stuffed animals at the age of eight. Her passion continued to grow but it wasn’t until college that it dawned on her that she could turn her passion into a career. After doing two New York internships and graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in clothing design and art, Kira moved to Charleston to start what would became Kira Elizabeth Design Studio. She has showcased in Charleston Fashion Week, been featured in several local magazines including Charleston Weddings, Charleston Style and Design, and SHE Magazine, and her work has been featured on numerous wedding blogs. She was also named one of the ‘Top 10 Bridal Designers to watch’ by a national wedding blog. Kira enjoys volunteering with the textiles department at the Charleston Museum and one of her gowns was in the 2016 exhibit Unveiled: Wedding Fashion and Traditions in the South. Kira is a photographer in her free time and enjoys photographing nature and abandoned buildings.
Nicole is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Kennesaw State University. She has a BS in Integrative Studies, focusing on performing arts and business. She has been sewing since she was eight years old and found a passion in design and fashion. She has several years of experience doing wedding gown alterations as well as working with costumes. In her free time she also enjoys dancing and is a member of the Holy City Siren dance company at DanceFX Charleston.
